Join Shri Shiv Dham Hindu Temple & Yoga Ashram for Shravan Mela 2026, a community celebration introducing guests to one of the most meaningful periods of devotion to Lord Shiva in the Hindu tradition. Shravan is a sacred month, traditionally observed during July and August, when devotees place special focus on prayer, fasting, reflection, and worship of Lord Shiva. It is considered an especially important time for strengthening faith, expressing gratitude, and seeking spiritual blessings. During the celebration, guests can learn about traditions such as the Kanwar Yatra, a pilgrimage in which devotees known as Kanwariyas traditionally dress in saffron and carry sacred water from the Ganges River, often traveling long distances on foot. The journey represents devotion, sacrifice, discipline, and faith. You will also learn about Jalabhishek, a devotional ritual in which water is poured over a Shiva Lingam, a sacred representation of Lord Shiva. The offering is made as an expression of reverence, purification, prayer, and devotion. During these traditions, you may also hear the devotional chant “Bol Bam,” commonly associated with Lord Shiva and the Kanwar pilgrimage. Whether you are Hindu, interested in learning about Indian culture, or simply looking for a meaningful community experience, everyone is welcome. Shravan Mela is an opportunity for families and people of all backgrounds to come together, learn about these centuries-old traditions, and experience an evening centered on faith, culture, community, and devotion. Come learn, celebrate, and experience the spirit of Shravan together.
